We have been treated to several weeks of warmer weather so I have been spending lots of time outdoors, taking photos of landscapes and hedgerows filled with with summer flowering willowherb, hogweed, poppies and clover to use in my next artworks. At the start of the month I visited the fabulous gardens at Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, finding botanical inspiration all around.
My last embroidery was completed in June; a springtime landscape of the Lammermuir Hills with lilac heathers and fresh greens. I was really pleased with the effect produced by the textured wool clouds rolling over the hilltops.
My printed products have been selling very well at local outlets, especially the packs of notelets. I like to produce items that make beautiful gifts that are useful, too! Today I am picking out part of my latest spring landscape design to have it printed as notecards for my collection.
My original textile-embroidery artworks are in the 3 Harbours Arts Festival’s pop-up exhibition at Haddstock this weekend. Come and see my work at the Trinity Centre in Haddington on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June.
New stock has arrived! In the shop there’s now a lovely selection of gift items, including new design coaster sets, notelets and notebooks. These are also for sale in Dunbar Craft Studio along with my gorgeous handmade fabric storage boxes.
Here’s the official poster for the St Abbs Art Exhibition, with dates and opening times. The opening night is Friday 23rd March at 6pm. All are welcome. The exhibition is open from 11-3pm at the weekend and 10-3pm during the week, from Saturday 24th to Thursday 29th March. Do come along and see a wide variety of art styles from local artists based in the Scottish Borders and the Lothians.
Please do come along to see my work at the Ebba Centre in St Abbs. The exhibition is open from 23rd to 29th March.
Two new designs have been sent off to the printers, this time in shades of blues, yellows and greens. One shows a springtime field of yellow rapeseed flowers dropping down towards the sea at St. Abbs. The other is a late summer view of the fields of East Lothian, with stormy clouds gathering and biscuit-coloured barley heads in the foreground. They will be available in my shop as coasters, cards and a notebook. If you’d like to see the original versions of these images, they will be shown in my exhibition at St Abbs’ Ebba Centre from 23rd to 29th March.
For my latest artwork I have been recreating a field of rapeseed flowers with vibrant yellow threads and many, many French Knots! This is a view of St Abbs in late spring/early summer. I have a great selection of works completed now, for the St Abbs Art Exhibition at the end of the month. Can’t wait to see them all on display! This design will be used for printed products available in my shop soon! I love the impressionist look of the design and the fresh, spring colours.
My next class at the Poldrate Arts and Crafts Centre in Haddington will run from Thursday 19th April, from 10-12 noon.
Come and learn a relaxing, creative and portable craft. Bookings open 21st March.
